Coin-Op Vice by solo dev Andrei Fomin (35 years in retro games) is launching on Steam on 26 September 2024. It's a 2.5D top-down action game that combines deck-building with over 100 arcade mini-games. Each mini-game gives you new weapons and boosts your hero's abilities in different ways. The story takes place in the 80s when a cosmic beam hits several arcade centers, turning visitors into monsters and launching unusual versions of classic games. The game has a retro look, with simple colors, old-school monochrome sprites, and a CRT monitor glow. It's reminiscent of the ZX Spectrum, Commodore, Apple, MSX, Atari, and early MS-DOS games, with their classic CGA and EGA graphics. In Mini-Games, you fix and play over 100 different arcade machines. Each offers a unique short game, ranging from classic platformers to legendary hits like Arkanoid, Xonix, Digger, and Snake. After completing an arcade, you earn two random cartridges. These cartridges enhance your skills, grant you weapons, and add special abilities. Combine them in your deck to tackle even the toughest monsters. You can also combine two cartridges to create a stronger one.
