Chris Larsen, Ripple Co-Founder and Executive Chairman, is one of 88 corporate leaders who have endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the U.S. presidency
Ripple Co-Founder Chris Larsen has joined a group of corporate leaders in endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential election.
The endorsement, which was announced in a letter on Friday, comes as Harris prepares to launch her campaign for the Democratic nomination. Larsen is one of 88 corporate leaders who signed the letter, which includes executives from Yelp, Box, and Snapchat.
"We, the undersigned business leaders, are writing to express our enthusiastic support for Vice President Kamala Harris in her bid for the presidency of the United States," the letter reads. "Harris possesses the experience, temperament, and vision to lead our nation effectively."
The endorsement highlights Harris's commitment to "fair and consistent policies that uphold the rule of law, foster stability, and create a business environment conducive to innovation and job creation."
The letter also praises Harris's work on issues such as climate change, gun violence, and reproductive rights.
"We believe that Harris will champion policies that will strengthen the economy, protect our environment, and ensure that all Americans have the opportunity to succeed," the letter concludes.
The endorsement is notable given Ripple's close ties to the cryptocurrency industry. Harris has not yet taken a public stance on cryptocurrencies, but her running mate, Joe Biden, has expressed support for digital assets and the underlying blockchain technology.
In recent months, several crypto firms have made substantial contributions to Harris's campaign. In October, FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried donated $2 million to Harris's Victory Fund, while BlockFi executives contributed a combined $75,000 to her campaign.
Harris is expected to formally announce her candidacy for the presidency in the coming weeks. She will face several Democratic challengers, including Senators Cory Booker of New Jersey, Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota.
