Martin Shkreli, the convicted securities fraudster also known as “Pharma Bro,” has named Barron Trump, the only child of former President Donald Trump and Melania Trump, as his accomplice in the launch of the mysterious DJT crypto token, following a rally in the price of the meme coin on rumors of its link to the former first family.

Shkreli, who was released from prison in 2022 and banned from the drug industry for life, was named as the creator of the DJT token by blockchain company Arkham Intelligence, which offered a $150,000 reward for anyone who could prove who launched the coin.

The outlet claims that Shkreli later told crypto investigator ZachXBT that he and Barron were responsible for the coin, following a hunt for those behind it, according to apparent screenshots of private messages posted on the social-media platform X.

Barron graduated from high school this month, with both of his high-profile parents in the audience to watch him accept his diploma. He is reportedly headed to college in the fall, and has become an internet sensation in part due to his elusiveness and lack of public exposure.

Shkreli was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2018 on two counts of securities fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit securities fraud in relation to the hedge fund MSMB Capital Management and the pharmaceutical company Retrophin.

He was a hedge-fund manager at MSMB and gained the moniker “Pharma Bro” after launching Turing Pharmaceuticals in 2015, a company that purchased the rights to out-of-patent drugs before increasing the prices of those medicines a practice for which he was denounced by the public and reviled in the press.
